I have lenovo T470 what are the requirement for making dock for my laptop
@Randol Rafael Peguero Reynoso can u share some photos please
@tomer zigdon v can make a laptop switch once plugged in without pressing the button
@girlsdrinkfeck can u share some photos please
This plus your DIY wallpaper TV and portable second monitor are on my list to build when i get my new gaming laptop. top notch content you make, keep it up!
I generally hit the 'like button,' usually under one minute, when I watch your videos. Thumbs up @ DIY Perks; your videos are inspiring.
Everyone gangsta until the laptop falls on the desk.
Shame my Dell latitude E6540 has power and usb port on back but hdmi on side .
i just use a thunderbolt 3 hub and a power cable and it works just fine and i can use the laptop as a second monitor
.
Why you not add fan cooling?
do you have a macbook pro version?
You nee also to consider the cooling system like you need place some cooling fan there when the time comes your laptop will overheat in long run ao u need some fan
what about charging time?
Great example. Everyone is going to have their differences due to the variety of laptop form factors. There's plenty enough information here to give everyone a launch - thank you!
you are really genius
2 years ago...Your laptop looks like mine now😂
Very nice look!! Do you also have de Amazon links for the materials you used?
Should I throw it to the trash if I'll buy a new laptop? Well, I guess next gen of this might be a universal =)
DIWHY
Best video that I've looked for
still better than 5 mins crafts
Are you drunk?
What to do it multiple sides?
useless project!
When you realize he said click the bell, but made a square with his hands...
It was a very good video. Then take out the power button :) (it warms up better when closed)
Great outro!
So instead of having two screens you now have one. whatever floats your boat I guess.
I do have same Dell latitude e7440...
nintendo took this idea and made the switch
In Modern Living Room Everyone Using "SoundProof Curtains" That Stops Outside Noise by 80% (25 Db) Tested. Check Here: livesoundproof.com/best-soundproof-curtains/
Me: Velcro tape, lots and lots of velcro tape.
My laptop has no ports on the back...
I'm impressed he did this video without using "3d printer" .
Is there an option to make a power button for the laptop, so we don't need to open and close it all the time when we wand to start it?
@Isi B depends on the brand , if you google bios button for "brand name here" , then you tap the button constantly whilst the device is turning on
Thank you vary much! Just, where can I find that option?
In the bios you can set up wake up from USB, youd have to put your laptop to sleep rather that off but should work
All great but I cannot find a simple DC power extension for my Zbook 17g4. I think it is 4.5mmx3.0mm
Да, эти провода, да, добавил бы, хреновое качество разъемов удручают. То ли дело разъемы на советской военной технике! Таких уже не будет никогда. Молодец парнишка, нашел временный выход.
Dope!
Do rocks like that even exist anymore? As thunderbolt and high speed USB become more ubiquitous, docks are starting to run through those. You can plug in a single cable from a dock and suddenly your laptop is a desktop. That’s literally what I’m doing. One USB cable, and it automatically connects to a high res monitor, mouse and keyboard, Ethernet, and speakers. I do still have to plug it in for power because it doesn’t support USB C charging, but it’s so convenient
I knowthis is already 2 years old, but what keybaord is that? It looks useful to throw in my backpack and use a raspberry pi on the train with that keyboard
the hiting problem
this would be cool under the desk as well!
you can also leave the lid open and make the display of the laptop vertical.
Update with an apple product!!
Or with usb you can use one cord all the way from audio, to usb, to Ethernet, to hdmi, etc and just have the hub hidden
Where ia the fan air space
Where do you buy the power cord extension?
This could work under some circumstances: 1. All of the ports are on a single side 2. You're not going to block the air vent (this is important if you're working with a high performance laptop)
great job bro
In this way, airflow is hard to come out and in.
Now you can make any laptop into a Powerbook Duo. Lovely.
You could have put the laptop in a keyboard drawer.. also keeps the design minimalistic
too many comments. doesn't this make the laptop's screen and keyboard unusable ?
and suddenly by mistake laptop fall
Can you do a version of this with laptops that have power plug on one side and hdmi. On the other? I was thinking sliding it onto the hdmi side and then use a small lever action to push the plug in the other side once it's in place.
It looks like a task in among us
Or just get one of those thunderbolt adaptors/docks that just plug in it one port and allow things from sd cards to usbs to hdmi... you can have it under the table and get the cable from the back of the desk... and obviously you'll have to have the charging cable separate... but better have 2 cables and still be able to have the laptop as a secondary display...
Nice Idee. Use Helicoils or similar to secure screws in plastics ;)
I sure want to make this one! But I only want to sock in into my desk. You have any tips for that?
U can also mount it under the desk which might help with a more minimalistic setup.
The predecessor of the Nintendo switch ! 😎
super cool!!!
what about the cooling system. it would be great if you could share that part if you have already updated this project with cooling fans installation
Hi Matt, any new project(s)? May I suggest one? what about a Thunderbolt3 hub that can handle a daughter-board for eSATA x1 controller to plug in 4 sata drives (per 1 board)? Can it be done? It can be plugged in to a laptop with a Thunderbolt3 port and perhaps due to power requirements, will need to be a powered hub. what do you think?
This is brilliant. Seriously patent this stuff.
Probably suffocating.
This is so 2018
Nice Work
Is there a way to remove a laptop screen and attach its output to a different monitor using hdmi if your laptop screen is too small or broken?
this could be used for a projector as well maybe
Nottingham Area! Project offer! Project Idea! Hi. Big fan of your channel, the work you do is great and quality looks amazing. I was hoping to tempt your passion for tech with helping a fellow enthusiast create something unique for your channel. Are you up to the challenge? I would be happy to deliver my entire set up to you. Or you are welcome to work here. I would love to send you some pictures and further details of what equipment I have. What do you think? I would love to make this happen for the ultimate studio/ gaming setup. I have a fairly decent HP laptop (spec below) with a monitor. I also have a black desk & some semi pro recording studio hardware (details below). I would love your help to intergrate this equipment into my desk. I am also into gaming and would like to add a Laptop External Independent Video Card PCI-E Expansion Card for an external GPU Laptop HP ZBook 15u G5 Core i7-8550U 16GB 512GB Radeon Pro WX 3100 Monitor HP 32s Full HD 31.5" IPS LCD Monitor - Black & Silver Desk 3 Tier Pro Audio Studio Desk Large studio workstation - for musicians and producers Keep outboard gear within reach by using the two 4U rackmounts Sturdy structure, with wooden laminate shelves Raised top shelf to position your speakers and computer screen Recording studio software Acid Pro 10 Recording studio equipment SubZero SZ-AI2 USB Audio Interface SubZero SZC-300 Condenser Microphone SubZero SZSM-4X Studio Monitors, Pair SubZero SZ-MH200 Monitoring Headphones Additional speaker Sonos Play 3 Please contact @pesciboi on insta or twitter for more info
Nice job... but mine has a cd tray on the side... time to rethink this! I'll find a way! Thanks again for a very entertaining vid!!
Diy modem antenna please
whats the name of the laptop i remember having it but i forgot the name
Looks cool but very impractical when laptops change port layouts so often. I'd rather just buy a Thunderbolt 3 dock, plug in one cable that does all of that and be done with it.
But i don't have money to buy a laptop with thunderbolt 3 and its dock will you donate that for free to me ?
This chanel is soooooooooo underrated man :(
I am too lazy for it So what i did is too lazy i have just removed my laptops display and laptops keyboard abd mount a secondary cooling fan so it dont get overheated and plug external display and keyboard and mound and made a monitor ryzer and put the laptop down the ryzer .ye i am lazy
\-_-/
Great idea, but won’t this cause heating issues
Keeping the laptop closed all the time and blocking all of its vents with the dock is ... an absolutely terrible terrible terrible idea. Build in some channels for airflow and toss in some sort of fan, and this would be great, but otherwise, it's completely nonsensical and it raises the question of why he put so much effort into doing it so poorly. I love the channel, and I gave this video a thumbs up anyway because I don't like being a hater. But yeah, this one was very bad.
One question... How well does it handle cooling with all the vents/fans covered?
I usually hook up a monitor to my laptop to get 2 monitors I’d rather say put it on the desk
DIY:- I'll make a full dock to make the laptop docking easier Le Type C ThunderBolt:- Bold my Beer
The ports on my laptop are on both sides with a SD card slot in the front.
how cool is it that I have the same laptop
It could have been in a nice cooler in the box.
Thank god we have hubs today
Could i have one of your laptop sir for educational purpose only.
Wouldn't be possible on mine since I have ports on the left and right of the body
I was expecting an engineered diy dock...not some plastic, aluminum and cords grouped together :(
Hardware temperature : seriously dude? Im gonna boom
Sorry, all my walls are covered by your false laptop-made windows. :)
The new laptops with usb c docks can have a wall dock without any worry of having all ports on one side. This can be done with old laptops too if you use usb displaylink docks
I made one for MacBook Pro arworlds.info/video/p597Z2WRnq6HZaY/fydyw and part 2 is arworlds.info/video/1qqyaqN2q4l-fJ4/fydyw
I Always Love your home-made high-quality aesthetic brands!
I'm watching Dell Latitude on Dell Latitude
cnc?
Not a great ideea. For dell the docking station is better. You have a big problem with airflow with your docking station. And you know dell cand get quite hot. It is great what you are doing Mat. Good bye for now ;)
Can you make it for macbook pro version
I made one. See arworlds.info/video/p597Z2WRnq6HZaY/fydyw The Ultimate Laptop Dock (Wall-mounted. Part 1)
Can post a DIY stand for viewing mobiles or tab while sleeping on a bed facing towards the roof
I'd love to do this but my Dell laptop has the vents in between the screen and keyboard so it overheats if close (thanks, Dell), and also I need to have it connected to a dock... that only has a 10cm cable (thanks again, Dell!) -_-
Brilliant design. Can't you do this on commercial basis ?
Well I'm screwed. Lol
